Overview of Services

All students meet with their counselor individually every year.  The following topics are covered in those meetings, as well as during classroom push-in time and evening events for families throughout the year.

Seniors
  • Individual meetings are held September–October:
    • Seniors receive Senior Certification Letter that states anticipated diploma type and remaining required courses for graduation.
    • Transcripts are reviewed.
    • College/career/military plans are discussed.
    • College-bound students receive instructions on how to start and submit college applications, how to apply for financial aid, and how to request letters of recommendation. 
    • All handouts from this meeting can be viewed by clicking on the College Applications and Financial Aid & Scholarships navigation links at left.
  • Senior Parent Night is held in early September each year.  The college application process is reviewed, and a financial aid presentation is given.
juniors
  • Individual meetings are held February–March
    • Transcripts and progress toward graduation are reviewed.
    • College/career/military plans are discussed.
    • Students are refreshed on how to use Naviance for career exploration and college searching.
    • College-bound students receive information on registering for the SAT and ACT.
  • Parents' College Planning Night is in early March each year.  This seminar educates families on the college search process
Counselors provide the following services for all students:

  • Short-term counseling
  • Crisis assessment and management
  • College/career advisement
