Free and Reduced Price Meals: Free and reduced price meals are provided for those who qualify. NEW: parents/guardians can now apply ONLINE (link) for free and reduced price meals . Families can also review this PDF file that includes the 2022-23 Free/Reduced Price Meals Income Guidelines plus the Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch Application and instructions (link) The PDF can be printed and completed for those not comfortable filling in the online form. Applications for free and reduced price meals may be completed at any time during the year or whenever household income changes.
Students in NY state who are approved for reduced price meals will actually receive their breakfast and lunch at no cost. Also note that all East Syracuse Elementary and Pine Grove Middle School students receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of income for the entire 22-23 school year because these schools are part of a special federal meals program. However, families with children in these schools should STILL complete a free/reduced application regardless of income. If your child is eligible for free and reduced price meals, he/she also may be eligible for other benefits, which are initiated by completing the form titled: Parent/Guardian. Contact food services (info below) if you need a printed form.
Consent to Release: Please complete the 2022-23 consent to release form (link) when filling out your free and reduced price meal application. This form is used to give permission for community programs such as holiday baskets, summer arts and playground programs, band instruments and school supplies as well as various other federal, state and local health and other programs.
FREE Breakfast/Lunch for ESE and Pine Grove: ESM has been notified that East Syracuse Elementary and Pine Grove Middle School qualify for a special free meal program providing breakfast and lunch for ALL students during the 22-23 school year. We still ask that families in those buildings complete the free/reduces price meal application.
Prepaid Lunches: Our K-12 cafeterias use an automated point-of-sale system that allows for prepayment for meals up to a year in advance. Parents may send cash or checks made out to "ESM Food Service" to their child's school cafeteria. Students may also make prepayments with the cashier at lunch or breakfast. Please use the printable prepay deposit form and clearly print the child's name and pin number on the envelope for accurate recording. Please make out separate checks for students in different buildings. Meals may also be paid for with a credit/debit card using myschoolbucks.com (see next item)
MySchoolBucks.com: Registering an ESM student at MySchoolBucks is a free service. Parents can check the account balance, view purchases, set up low balance alerts and automatic recurring payments. You will not be charged a fee for viewing and accessing reports from MySchoolBucks. A credit/debit card transaction fee of $2.75 will be charged for funding a student account. For options on funding multiple students in the same family in different ESM school buildings, please contact the Food Service Department at 315-434-3304.
