Chartwells K12 Honored as ESM’s Partner of the YearChartwells K12 has been recognized as ESM's 2021 ESM Partnership for Learning. Chartwells staff prepare and serve ESM students breakfast and lunch each day and manage the food service program.
When the pandemic hit in March 2020, the Chartwells team didn’t miss a beat. Literally overnight, they switched from preparing fully cooked foods where everything was served in our schools — to serving all individually wrapped meals where nothing was served onsite.
The Chartwells team successfully overcame supply shortages and food delivery issues to set up a completely new program. They ensured that ESM students continued to receive 11,000 healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunch meals each week while they were learning remotely. This year, Chartwells partnered with ESM to develop food service delivery plans completely customized to best suit each schools’ reopening learning model. This included grab and go meals, breakfast and lunch in the classroom, and new meal delivery models in our school cafeterias. New cleaning and sanitizing protocols between service times were also implemented to ensure staff and student safety.
“Throughout what has been a very challenging pandemic year, Chartwells has been an exemplary partner in learning. Their flexibility, creativity, and commitment to happy and healthy students are to be commended,” said Kate Skahen, ESM’s Executive Director of School Business Administration.
