Policies
Summer School Eligibility
Students who score an overall average of 30 or higher during the school year are eligible to attend summer recovery.
Attendance Requirements
Students are only permitted in the building during their scheduled courses; loitering is prohibited. Attendance is important for student success.
Students are expected to be in class on time and for the duration of the class. Students will receive disciplinary referrals on their third tardy to class. If a student is over 30 minutes late for class it will count as an absence. Missed class time is expected to be made up.
Students may no longer be eligible for credit with more than 3 days unexcused absences and/or tardies. Missed class time must be made up. *Students will need a doctor or dentist note to be excused and it should be brought to Mrs. Trivison, Summer School Principal.
Dress Code
The ESM dress code policy and standards of common sense will be maintained. Footwear must be worn; Driver Education students must wear sneakers or shoes, no “flip flops,” during driving class.
Parking
Students driving to school will be required to park in the front of the building in the staff parking-lot and enter through the main doors at the front of the building. Observance of traffic regulations and safe driving in the student lot will be monitored.
Single Point of Entry
Our school has a single point of entry. All students must enter through the front doors and pass through our security protocols.
Progress & Report Cards
Student grades will be available on the Student-Parent Portal. The final average will be: dependent upon the previous school year’s final average and the summer school course grade = 80%, final assessment = 20%. In order to receive credits for a course, students must have a final average of 65 or better. Report cards will only be mailed upon parent/guardian request and to out-of-district students.
Student Conduct
All rules, regulations, and policies of the ESM School District are enforced during the Summer School session. Smoking tobacco or tobacco alternatives, possession of weapons, illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages, violence, use of electronics during class, or any disruptive behavior is prohibited at any time in or around the school building grounds as per the student handbook. Consequences for violations of rules will be given according to ESM district policy. Three discipline referrals may result in dismissal from summer school.
