Kids on Rug Putting Puzzle Together
We are learning and growing all day long in Pre-K.

Arrival

The children will learn to…

  • Find their names on the chart

  • Check their backpacks for mail for teachers

  • Hang up their backpacks

  • Hang up their coats

  • Wash their hands

  • Greet teachers and classmates

 

Circle Time

We sit on the rug and we may…

  • Answer our sharing question.

  • Look at our schedule for the day.

  • Sing songs and do finger plays.

  • Listen to stories or poems.

  • Explore a theme from our Creative Curriculum for Pre-K.

  • Learn about and practice social/emotional skills from our Second Step Program.

  • Listen to the “friend of the week” share his/her poster or news.

 

Recess

  • We will play in the gym or on the playground each day.

  • We will climb, run, slide, ride tricycles, and play with balls or frisbees.
     

Large Group/Small Groups

During this time we may…

  • Do projects at our tables

  • Do an activity at our tables related to a theme or skill

  • Play games on the rug related to social/emotional skills, math, literacy, holiday, or season

  • Sing songs

  • Act out stories

  • “Write” in our journals

 

Snack

During snack time the children…

  • Wash their hands

  • Get their items for snack

  • Use manners when offered a snack

  • Talk with teachers and friends at their table

  • Clean up after themselves

 

Choice Time

During this time the children may…

  • Play in different centers such as art, sensory, writing, books, dramatic play, blocks, small manipulatives, and puzzles.

  • Interact and communicate with both teachers and classmates

  • Imagine, explore, create, and build

  • Play games with teachers

 

Dismissal

The children are expected to:

  • Attempt to put on their own coats

  • Attempt to zip their own coats

  • Put on their own backpacks

  • Walk in a line
