Our Elementary Objective: Project Updates

The Elementary Objective project is progressing on schedule and within budget. Fremont and Woodland Elementary are currently under construction as part of Phase I with an anticipated completion date of Summer 2021.

Phase II building renovations at Minoa and East Syracuse Elementary and Park Hill School have been designed and are at the New York State Education Department for final review and approval. Phase II bidding is planned for early 2021 with construction starting in Summer 2021.

Fremont and Woodland students and staff relocated for the 2020-21 school year to temporary locations at Lake Street Elementary in Chittenango and St. Matthew’s School in East Syracuse, respectively.

The benefits of relocating to a leased space during construction include improved safety and security, less disruption of the learning environment, the ability to stay together as a learning community, and preparing for a single move instead of multiple moves. It also shortens the construction time, which, in turn, saves project costs.

Both Fremont and Woodland will be complete by the start of the 2021-22 school year, when students and staff will return to state-of-the-art school facilities. Construction at East Syracuse Elementary, Minoa Elementary and Park Hill School is projected to get underway in summer 2021 and be complete by the start of the 2022-23 school year.
