Screenings (Hearing, Scoliosis, Vision)
School health screenings support the early detection of health conditions, helping children stay healthy and ready to learn. These screenings check for vision and hearing problems, as well as spinal deformities that can affect a student's range of motion and endurance.
Vision and hearing issues can go unnoticed, yet they often affect a student's behavior and academic performance. Scoliosis, in particular, should be identified as early as possible to prevent lifelong physical issues. That's why screening school-aged children is so important — it identifies students who may need further evaluation by a healthcare provider.
To make sure every child receives these important screenings, public schools are required to screen students for vision, hearing, and scoliosis in mandated grades, unless results are already documented on a health exam.
