DECA Hosts Costello Basketball Classic

East Syracuse Minoa DECA Presents:

“2025 Costello Classic” Basketball Games to Benefit the V Foundation.

Join us for an exciting evening to support the V Foundation and honor the legacy of ESM alum Larry Costello, who was born and raised in Minoa and is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.  This special event celebrates his remarkable legacy while uniting our community to raise funds for cancer research.

2025 Costello Classic Event Details:
The games will be held on Saturday, December 13th, in the ESM High School Gymnasium, starting at 5:30 PM.

• The first game features a Student vs. Staff matchup at 5:30 PM.
• The second game, showcasing ESM alumni, will tip off at 7:00 PM.

Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door on the night of the event.

 All proceeds will be donated to the V Foundation in memory of Larry Costello. 

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano with one goal in mind: to achieve Victory Over Cancer. Thanks to an endowment funded by generous donors, 100% of direct donations benefit cancer research and programs. This means that not one single cent of your donation goes to operating expenses.

 

How to play in the Game:

Alumni & Staff: Want to play in the 2025 Costello Classic? Here's what you need to do:

1. Complete the Google Form to register.
2. Spots are limited to the first 30 players, so don’t delay!  RSVP by Sunday, December 1st to ensure you get your preferred shirt size.
3. A $25 minimum donation to cover the cost of your game shirt and support the V Foundation in memory of Larry Costello.  The shirts cost us around $20 to purchase due to the 5 colors on the front and 2 colors on the back.  

How to Pay for the Game:
We now have 2 ways to donate for playing in the game this year - Minimum $25 donation
1. Pay with cash on the night of the game.
2. 2024 Costello Classic DIY Fundraiser with the V Foundation

• There's an option to make a tax-deductible donation on the 2025 Costello Classic.
• Make sure you donate to our event only
• Select show my name publicly or show my name to ESM DECA only.

• ESM DECA Advisor Robert Anzalone had the honor of being interviewed by the V Foundation to share his personal journey with cancer and how it inspired the creation of the  “Costello Classic,” an event benefiting the V Foundation. • The "2025 Costello Classic" is officially registered as a DIY Fundraiser with the V Foundation. On the DIY Fundraiser Page, you can make a tax-deductible donation to the 2025 Costello Classic. You can dedicate your donation in honor of someone affected by cancer, with all proceeds going directly to the V Foundation. This is a wonderful way to honor loved ones while contributing to a meaningful cause.
