Important Message: Poison Ivy Treatment at Minoa

This message is to notify families, staff and community members that an emergency pesticide application will take place near the Minoa Elementary multi-purpose sports court to treat poison ivy.

The application will be completed by Premier Lawn Care Service on Friday, August 29, 2025. The multi-purpose court will be closed for the appropriate time following the application.

Application details:
  • Business: Premier Lawn Care Service
  • Certified Applicator: Jim Barrett
  • Business Registration #: 17482
  • Applicator Certification #: C7893603
  • Pesticides to be applied:
    • Triclopyr (EPA #81927-11)
    • Triad Select (EPA #89442-22)
As required by New York State Education Law, schools must periodically notify parents/guardians, faculty and staff regarding the potential use of pesticides. ESM also maintains a list of persons who wish to receive 48-hour prior written notification of certain pesticide applications.

In cases of an emergency application needed to protect against an imminent threat to human health, a good faith effort has been made to notify the community as soon as possible.

If you would like to receive 48-hour notification of pesticide applications that are scheduled to occur in your school, please contact John Young, Director of Facilities, at johnyoung@esmschools.org or 315-434-3001. You may also mail a letter to 407 Fremont Rd., East Syracuse, NY 13057 including your name, address, daytime phone number, home phone number, e-mail address and the school building(s) of interest.
