Communications
Communications Action Team Update
The Strategic Intent (5-year goal) for Communications is:
- By June 2013, 90% of people responding to a districtwide survey will indicate that they are knowledgeable or well informed about district programs, results and future direction.
A number of "Key Initiatives" have been developed to achieve this 5-year goal:
- We will develop a process for a District branding project
- We will develop a system of internal and external communication that educates the entire community on what is happening throughout the school District
- We will expand the capacity of the District website to enable parents to sign-up for e-mail alerts, students to access district servers for projects/homework from outside school, and for parents/guardians to have access to their child's grades
- We will create a system to utilize mass communication for disseminating information to public (for example – Reverse 911)
- We will increase parent engagement and encourage PTO involvement
- We will develop a process to review and evaluate adult education offerings
- We will develop a process to engage the Board of Education in supporting involvement of the community as we pursue 21st Century learning
- We will expand the role of Key Communicators
- We will examine the feasibility of starting second language at the elementary level
- We will enhance students' skills in communicating for problem solving and critical thinking
