CHS Program at Woodland: Early Childhood Education

    course is open to fully accredited juniors and seniors who are considering one of many careers in the Early Childhood field.  At Woodland Elementary, four high school students spend their mornings from 8 AM to 10 AM assisting in one of the primary classrooms. During the 2009-2010 school year we have students assisting in 3 kindergarten classrooms.  Students learn how to perform in the school workplace, interact professionally and responsibly with young children, and how to interface with educational professionals.  

 the first year will:

  Develop employable skills
  Gain experience that will enhance a college career in education
  Create, implement educational activities and resources
  Create a portfolio 

 their second year in the program, students will:

  Design an age-appropriate learning environment
  Develop lessons for their site-classroom 
  Update their portfolio
