UPDATES FROM THE PRINCIPAL

August 2008

Dear Pine Grove Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. My name is Kelly Sajnog and I am going to be your principal at Pine Grove Middle School. I want to introduce myself and share my thoughts about your upcoming year.

Middle School years are important. They are a time of transition filled with new academic challenges and opportunities. You will quickly discover the increased demands of your teachers and learn the high expectations we have for you as members of our school community. You should focus on creating an experience that will best prepare you as a well-rounded student. Most of you will likely have a great middle school career; however, if you find that you are struggling to get your feet on the ground academically or socially, there are many support services here to help you find success. Make appointments with your teachers, counselor, and/or administrator and visit the Learning Lab and Library Media Center. Take advantage of the tremendous people and resources that are available to help you.

Get involved! I cannot stress enough the importance of becoming active in our school. Your middle school experience will be greatly enhanced if you commit to planning and participating in the events and activities of the upcoming school year. Learn about the various organizations and make a commitment to join at least one group. You will make new friends, develop leadership skills, and learn about teamwork… all while having fun!

I come to East Syracuse-Minoa having spent the past fifteen years in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District serving as a biology, chemistry, and earth science teacher, an assistant principal, and most recently Associate Principal of F-M High School. My husband Derek, Principal of Chittenango High School, and I have two beautiful daughters; Mika (8), who attends Fremont Elementary, and Annika (4), who will attend Park Hill in September. We have lived in this district for six years and are very pleased with the sense of community that assists us in raising our children.

I hope you are looking forward to coming to Pine Grove as much as we are looking forward to welcoming you. I can be reached by phone at 434-3050 and by e-mail at ksajnog@esmschools.org. Please let me know if I can help you in any way. Best wishes for a successful and productive year!

Sincerely,

Kelly Sajnog

Principal
