Library Policies
BOOKS & AUDIOS
Books and audio books may be checked out for two weeks and renewed if the book or audio book has not been reserved. Reference books may not be checked out. Students with overdue materials may have their borrowing privileges limited. Fines are not accrued for overdue books but students will be charged the current replacement cost for lost and/or damaged materials. No student may check out materials for another student.
MAGAZINES, DVDs & VIDEOS
Current copies of subscription magazines may not be checked out of the library. Past issues of magazines and all videos may be borrowed for a one-week period. Magazines and videos may be renewed once if not on "hold" for someone else.
RETURNING MATERIALS
Borrowed materials should be returned to the library on time. They may be left off at the library circulation desk during open hours or dropped in the book return. Videotapes and audiocassettes should be rewound before returning.
STUDY HALL PROCEDURES All students are invited to use the library during study hall. Guidelines for study hall supervisors are in the attached document. CLICK HERE FOR PROCEDURES
OVERDUE NOTICES
Overdue reminders are sent to all students via their ELA teachers at the end of each marking period. Individual notices are sent to students who have not responded to the ELA teacher reminder twice a year. Phone calls may be made to a student's parents/guardians to enlist their help in encouraging their student to be responsible.
Report cards indicate if a student has overdue materials.
Overdue notices show the replacement cost for a book. The replacement cost is the amount needed to buy a new book. A student is responsible for all materials checked out in his/her name.
Library Collection
The Pine Grove Library contains approximately 20,000 books, magazines, audiotapes, videos and other audio-visual materials.
Technology Services
Thirty-two computers provide access to the library catalog, databases, software programs, and to the Internet. New students are oriented to the library, and to the rules and responsibilities regarding computer use. Computers are to be used for school related activities.
INTERNET SAFETY Every effort is made to ensure student safety in school and online. Students are expected to follow the rules regarding computer use which includes only accessing appropriate websites.
