WELCOME TO SUMMER!!!! This is a great time to enjoy a book or magazine you have been wanting to read and haven't had the time. Take a blanket or chair outside with a cold drink, and let the story take you away!

Some ways to encourage reading with your child could be by reading the newspaper, a magazine, a graphic novel - which looks like a comic series, or whatever you can get them to read is helpful practice.  Let them see you reading as well.  Visiting the library or the book store in the mall to just browse is fun too!  Here are some links for parents:

Writing is always a big part of our curriculum here at Pine Grove and if you want to help your child to be successful you could write a journal together at home. You could leave notes for your child around the house or in their lunch and ask them to write back to you.  Show them that writing is useful and can be fun.  This website helps with reading, writing and just being the parent of a middle school student.

I look forward to meeting you or at least speaking with you this year.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call me at school.

Have a happy, healthy summer full of books!! .
