Kindergarten Registration (For children starting kindergarten in Sept. 2010)

Thursday, March 11 from 4 to 6 p.m., children entering kindergarten in September 2010 should register at Park Hill School, 303 Roby Ave., East Syracuse.

Prior to this date, all parents will receive a packet containing required forms and other information necessary to register children. Any parent who does not receive a packet and feels his or her child is eligible to enter kindergarten should contact Linda Stoddard in the census office before March 11 at 434-3011.

Children entering kindergarten for the first time must be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2010 and must have the scheduled immunizations as required under New York State Public Law. This law mandates that schools not permit a child to be admitted unless the parent provides the school with a certificate of immunization or proof from their physician that the child is in the process of receiving the required immunizations.

Immunization exceptions may be granted upon submission of a statement from a physician that the immunization is not advisable for health reasons. Exemption may also be granted upon submission of a written statement from a parent or guardian indicating that they are bonafide members of a special religious organization whose teachings are contrary to the administration of an immunizing agent.

Any parent who does not provide satisfactory proof of immunization or a qualifying exemption will not be permitted to enroll their child in school in September. The child will not be admitted until proof is provided.

If you are a new resident or have recently moved within the ESM School District, you should contact the census office at 434-3011 to be put on the census list.
