Flag Volunteers

Fifth grade students volunteer for one week to raise the American Flag on the school flagpole each morning and then lower it in the afternoon. Beginning in September, Mr. Sampson teaches the initial group of student volunteers the proper technique of folding, unfolding, raising, lowering and storing the flag. These students, in turn, teach the next group of volunteers the learned technique. This continues throughout the school year giving all fifth grade students a chance to learn the proper flag handling technique and then teach it.
