School Improvement Plan

Each year the delivery of student instructional strategies is reviewed and revised in order that our teachers' best practices are improved and implement to ensure the success of our Fremont students.

After analyzing test scores from the ELA, TONY, Math, Social Studies, Science, it is evident that there are excellent programs already in place in the ESM District. These include special education, academic intervention services (AIS), and enrichment. However one question emerged, what can be done differently in these programs to improve the test scores of students testing at 2 or 3 so that these targeted students could then test at 3 and 4?

The School Improvement Team would like to highlight just a few of the
strategies that will be utilized this year.

Goal 1: These targeted students may need a different approach. Three strategies for improvement are the following:

  • Non linguistic comprehension strategies such as charts and
    organizers emphasized.
  • Physical movement as well as concrete indicators employed.
  • Multiple exposures of inductive and deductive higher order thinking strategies and frequent,
    focused instruction in fluency practiced.

Goal 2: Review building capacity and accommodations with the positive result of ensuring students begin the day in positive, open learning frame of mind.

Goal 3: Increase parent involvement.

  • Explore meaningful parental interactions and parent
    engagement.
  • Plan parent information nights focusing on the grades 3-5 state tests.
Fremont staff members make concentrated efforts to partner with
our parents as events for the 2005-06 school year unfold.
