Books to Go
Click for Books to Go Power Point presentation.
Thank you to the Central New York Teaching Center for the Books to Go grant awarded to Mrs. Stoker, kindergarten teacher, and Mrs. Daniels, librarian.
Fremont kindergarten parents and their children each receive a Books to Go Bag to encourage summer reading.
Included in these bags:
- Ten dollar gift certificate to Waldenbooks with a 20% discount at Shopping Town Mall,
- Two paperback books to share ,
- A suggested reading list to take along when visiting the public library to get a library card and to check out "free" books,
- A calendar of events from the East Syracuse Public Library for their free summer reading program,
- A bookmark.
When children return to Fremont in the fall, a book swap will be held during the second scheduled library class. At that time, along with checking out school library books, the first grade students can get a fresh new book to have for their very own.
Parent reading tips:
- Make reading a part of every day.
- Spend just a few minutes.
- Talk about the illustrations.
- Show your child the words and run your finger under the words as you read.
- Ask your child questions.
- Allow your child to ask questions.
- Have fun.
Remember that children can understand a read aloud that is two years above their actual reading ability. |
