PRO PIANIST RAGS FREMONT SCHOOL
On Monday March 13, 20000 at 9:00 A.M. at the Fremont Elementary gym, something exciting happened. Bob Milne pro pianist jazzed up Fremont with toe tapping rag. He did this because the kids in Fremont were learning about ragtime. He played many fun, and famous sounds such as: the "Maple Leaf Rag", "Charmane", and the "Entertainer Rag" formally known to be played by everyone's hero on a hot day, Skippy's Ice Cream. Mr. Milne quoted, " When you play music it's supposed to sing to you." Also Mr. Milne took the top off the piano to show us how he plays. That was the jazzy, exciting day at Fremont Elementary School. |
BOB MILNE SWINGS INTO FREMONT WITH RAGTIME
Bob Milne the professional pianist came to Fremont Elementary on Monday March 13, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. in the gym. He really jazzed the place. He played the piano, and even took the top off so we could see inside when he was playing. He came to teach us about ragtime. He said, " That's all I do when I play the piano- make notes rhyme." I think what he meant by that is the music sounds better if they rhyme. Bob Milne came from Michigan state. He also came because a person came to his school when he was young and he likes to the same thing. One hand plays the trumpet like all the jazzy stuff and the other hand plays the drum, like keeping the beat. The teachers and staff chose Bob Milne to come because there is a program called Arts In Education Program from Borden horizon that teaches kids. He played the Entertainer Rag that the ice cream man plays on his truck. He also played boogie-woogie that really makes you what to "swing your partner". I really loved when Bob Milne came. I wonder if he will be remembered like Scott Joplin, the king of ragtime. Try listening to it see how you like it. It really gets you swinging! | |
