5th grade Holiday Books

How to:

First we wrote our rough drafts.
While we waited for Mrs. Constable to edit our pieces, we wrote more stories and poems.
Then our class typed our pieces on the computer.
We made mini books to show us how we would set up our pages on the computer (our bibles).
After that we copied our pieces and inserted them into Adobe PageMaker. This allowed us to layout and design each page. Illustrations were added at the end, some used computers while others used their artistic talents.
We took cardboard, covered them with contact paper and taped the pieces of cardboard together with colored duck tape.
We took a smaller piece of cardboard for the spine and used colored duck tape once again to attach the spine to the book.
Then, we sewed the pages through the cardboard in order to hold it together.
Lastly,we glued our white pages to the cardboard to keep the book's body together.
