Carpentry
ESM carpentry students have been building new homes for residents of the school district for more than 20 years. The program has saved homeowners thousands of dollars on labor costs, while improving our community and educating our local students.
For 2007-08, students built a house from the foundation up. We started a little later than usual, but this year's project is located on Heman Street in East Syracuse, near the Hartwell intersection. It is a 1565 square foot ranch.
Ten students are currently building the home (6 second-year and 4 first-year carpentry students). Specialty trades like excavation work, the foundation, and mechanicals are subcontracted with licensed contractors.
