New Lunch/Breakfast Prices and Charging Policy
Wednesday, August 08, 2007
ESM is raising lunch prices by 10 cents for elementary and 15 cents for secondary schools starting September 2007. (Click here to see new pricing below)
Breakfast will increase by 15 cents for all grade levels.
The increase is due to the higher cost of food in general, along with the added cost to serve more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grain foods. ESM has had a few years with no price increases.
The ESM Board of Education has also adopted a policy for meal charging. (Click here to see new policy below)
Free and reduced price meals are provided for those who qualify. Applications for free and reduced price meals may be completed at any time during the year or whenever household income changes. Check back for a 2007-2008 Free and Reduced Lunch Application form.
Prepaid Lunches: All K-12 cafeterias use an automated point-of-sale system that allows for prepayment for meals up to a year in advance. Parents may send cash or checks made out to "ESM Food Service" to their child's' school cafeteria. Students may also make prepayments with the cashier at lunch or breakfast. Please use the printable prepay deposit form and clearly print the child's name and pin number on the envelope for accurate recording. Please make out separate checks for students in different buildings.
New Prices:
The Board of Education establishes prices based on cost of materials, labor, government aid, and number of students buying lunch each day.
